MapleStory Artale Guide: Second Job Warrior Skills - Spearman Edition

Dec-16-2024 PST Maplestory Artale

Today, as I grind Wild Caros on my Fighter, I'm wrapping up my MapleStory Artale Second Job Warrior series. We’re saving the best for last: the Spearman—one of the most iconic classes in Old School MapleStory and an enduring fan favorite in Artale.

MapleStory Artale Guide: Second Job Warrior Skills - Spearman Edition

The Legend of Spearman and Dragon Knights

Back in the original MapleStory, Dragon Knights were all the rage, thanks to legendary players like Tiger. Tiger, a pioneer in MapleStory history, inspired countless players with his climb to fame as one of the highest-leveled characters in the game. Although he never reached level 200, Tiger’s impact was monumental, convincing many—including myself—to switch to Spearman in hopes of replicating his success.

In Artale, the nostalgia remains strong, and Spearman continues to shine as a versatile, party-friendly class with unique skills that scale into third jobs and beyond.

Spearman Basics: Spears vs. Polearms

Spearman wields two primary weapon types: spears and polearms. Each has its advantages:

Spears: Better for stab attacks and generally the more popular choice.

Polearms: Better for slash attacks but less commonly used.

In Old School MapleStory, weapon types significantly influenced your damage output. In Artale, while these modifiers don’t apply to early skills like Power Strike and Slash Blast, they still matter for third-job Dragon Knight skills such as Crusher and Fury. This is why we recommend a hybrid build, preparing you to switch between weapons for optimal performance.

Skill Allocation Guide (Level 30–70)

Level 30–36: Spear Mastery

-Focus entirely on Spear Mastery until it reaches level 19.

-At level 37, add one more point to max it (level 20) and put two points into Spear Booster.

Level 38–44: Spear Booster and Start Hybrid Build

-Add three points to Spear Booster (level 5).

-From level 39, shift to Polearm Mastery and raise it to level 18 by level 44.

-At level 45, max Polearm Mastery (level 20) and add one point to Polearm Booster.

Level 46–47: Polearm Booster and Iron Will

-Raise the Polearm Booster to level 4.

-Add three points to Iron Will at level 47. This skill won’t be touched again—it’s not very useful.

Level 48–57: Hyper Body

-Max Hyper Body, bringing it to level 30. This skill is beloved in parties, boosting HP and MP by 60%—a lifesaver for everyone, especially squishy mages.

Level 58–67: Boosters

-Balance Spear and Polearm Booster, alternating points to raise them both to level 20.

-Focus on Spear Booster first, finishing it by level 63, then complete Polearm Booster by level 68.

Level 69–70: Iron Body

-Add remaining points into Iron Body, a first-job skill. In Artale, this grants extra speed, which is crucial for mobility.

Why the Hybrid Build?

As a hybrid Spearman, you’ll optimize your damage for third-job Dragon Knight skills. Here’s why this matters:

-Crusher (Spear Exclusive): Best used with a spear for massive stab-based damage.

-Fury (Polearm Exclusive): Optimized with a polearm for wide-range slash damage.

This build ensures you’re prepared to switch seamlessly between weapons in the third job, maximizing your damage output in all scenarios. Artale’s hybrid Spearman is a powerhouse in both solo grinding and party play.

Key Skill Highlights

1.Hyper Body (Level 48–57): The bread and butter of the Spearman, making you a party favorite.

2.Booster Skills (Spear & Polearm): Vital for speeding up slow attack animations and maintaining smooth DPS output.

3.Mastery Skills (Spear & Polearm): Provide stability to your damage range and a crucial accuracy boost, helping you hit high-level monsters consistently.

Final Thoughts

Spearman remains one of the most versatile and rewarding classes to play in MapleStory Artale. Its hybrid build ensures smooth progression into Dragon Knight and sets you apart as a reliable and powerful teammate.
