WoW Cataclysm Classic: Rise of the Zandalari Goes Live on July 30
Aug-03-2024 PST WoW Cataclysm ClassicJust when you thought you could heed the advice to "Stay away from da voodoo," a new temptation emerges. The call to enter Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman, thwart the machinations of the Zandalari, and reap the rewards is too compelling to resist. As of July 30, players can immerse themselves in the latest challenge: Cataclysm Classic: Rise of the Zandalari.
The Rise of the Zandalari
In the past, the Zandalar tribe, known for their wisdom and scholarly pursuits, assisted the Horde and the Alliance in countering the threats from their brethren in Zul'Gurub and Zul'Drak. However, the Cataclysm has drastically altered Zandalari's outlook. Now, led by the enigmatic prophet Zul, they seek to unite all trolls into a mighty empire to save their race from extinction.
The Gurubashi and Amani trolls have responded to Zul's call, receiving support to rebuild their capitals in Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman. Yet, not all trolls share this vision. Vol'jin and his Darkspear tribe oppose Zul's warmongering. To prevent the rise of a new troll empire, Vol'jin has reached out to the Horde and Alliance for assistance. Failure in this campaign means a new troll empire will rise, bringing war to an already beleaguered world.
A Threat Fought in Secret
With great discretion, Vol'jin has dispatched Darkspear delegates to Stormwind and Orgrimmar, seeking adventurers to investigate the emerging threats in Stranglethorn. The situation is dire. The Gurubashi, rejuvenated, are rampaging through Stranglethorn. Players will embark on new level-85 solo quests to uncover the trials ahead. Gurubashi leadership, bolstered by their alliance with the Zandalari, remains a formidable force. Along the way, players will assist Bwemba, a headstrong Darkspear spirit-talker, track down the elusive Hemet Nesingwary, and confront new Zul'Gurub bosses.
Rewards for addressing the Stranglethorn issues include a pet panther. Players should seek out Vol'jin's representatives in Orgrimmar or Stormwind Harbor to begin their adventure.
Return to Zul'Gurub
Zul'Gurub, the ancient city, is once again a staging ground for the empowered Gurubashi to strike against perceived invaders. Backed by the Zandalari, Zul'Gurub presents new challenges in this level-85 5-player Heroic dungeon. While players will see some familiar faces, the encounters and mechanics have been significantly updated. High Priest Venoxis, Broodlord Mandokir, High Priestess Kilnara, Zanzil, and Jin'do the Godbreaker are prepared to defend their city. Defeating them earns players a treasure map, leading to valuable loot, including an account-bound ring with a visibly large gem.
For those with high enough Archaeology skills, an additional boss can be unlocked. Gri'lek, Renataki, Hazza'rah, and Wushoolay will challenge those who dig too deep. Surviving this challenge offers unique rewards from each boss.
The Amani Regrouped
The Amani, aided by the Zandalari, have regrouped under new leadership in Daakara. Zul'Aman has been reimagined as a level-85 5-player Heroic dungeon. While it retains familiarity for those who fought Zul'jin during The Burning Crusade, the mechanics have been updated for 5-player groups. Akil'zon, Nalorakk, Jan'alai, Halazzi, Hex Lord Malacrass, and Daakara aim to bring their tribe into prominence. Challengers beware.
Both Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub require a minimum average item level of 346. These dungeons exist in a separate Heroic difficulty tier in the Dungeon Finder, offering item level 353 epic-quality loot. Players can expect items for nearly every gear slot, with a focus on hard-to-fill slots such as bracers, helms, shoulders, guns, and wands.
Rare Mounts and More
As with their original versions, Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman offer chances to obtain updated rare mounts. The Swift Zulian Panther and Armored Razzashi Raptor are found in Zul'Gurub, while the Amani Battle Bear can be earned by defeating the first four bosses of Zul'Aman within a set time.
