Since the release of two-star dungeons in Throne and Liberty, many players have struggled with random matchmaking. Whether due to insufficient gear or a lack of understanding of dungeon mechanics, these difficulties can be frustrating, especially for players who want to be efficient. After witnessing these issues firsthand on my 3,800 power protagonist - and having my own time wasted by poorly coordinated groups - I decided to create a guide to help players navigate these challenging dungeons with a little more ease. To help you enhance your experience and progress even faster in Throne and Liberty, MMOexp is a great resource for acquiring the necessary Throne and Liberty Lucent, which can help you gear up and stay ahead of the curve.
In this article, we’ll take a look at the four current two-star dungeons as well as the upcoming fifth, the Screaming Torture Chamber, offering some tips and strategies to improve your dungeon-playing abilities. To make this guide as realistic as possible, I recorded the footage using an alternate character with 3,000 combat power, two fully traded weapons, and a far from ideal gear. Despite having only 8,600 health points, this character was still able to clear these dungeons, showing that even a suboptimal setup can lead to success with the right strategy.
1. Carmine Rage Island
Carmine Rage Island is a fan-favorite, but it’s notorious for its difficulty due to the red mark mechanic and the need for precise positioning. The most common mistake I see is players failing to manage the red AOE mechanic, which causes wipes within the first 30 seconds. Here’s how to handle it:
· Marking and Memorizing: The first mini-boss involves a color sequence puzzle. Memorize the first four colors from the entrance and repeat them in your head. When a color pops up, you’ll know exactly where to go.
· Dodge Roll Charge Mechanic: The boss targets the furthest players with a charge mechanic. Position yourself accordingly to bait the first charge and stay away from the other targets.
· Managing the Axe Mechanic: If you’re targeted by the flying axe, it will follow you, so you must stay mobile. Keep moving to avoid taking too much damage, and make sure the healer can keep you alive through the DOT damage.
· AOE Mechanics: Always stay the furthest from the boss to control the first safe zone. This allows the second targeted player to move to a safer location, reducing the risk of overlap.
Positioning and coordination are key here, and even with lower combat power, it’s possible to succeed if everyone understands their roles.
2. Void Way
Void Way can either be an easy or incredibly difficult dungeon, depending on your group. The main challenge here is positioning and understanding the red pulling AOE mechanic, which many players fail to deal with properly.
· Managing the Red Eye Mechanic: Always position yourself at the farthest point from the boss to take the red eye mechanic. Once you get it, move to the designated safe spot to avoid the pool effect.
· Dealing with the Yellow Eye Mechanic: The yellow eye is a HP check. If you’re not near the boss, you’ll take a significant amount of damage. Stay close to the tank and healer to benefit from their defensive buffs.
· Handling the Orbs: When a player takes the aggro for the mechanic, make sure to position yourself around the orbs properly. Stay close to the boss if you're assigned to the first orb, and keep moving in a circle if you're assigned to the second.
This dungeon is a straightforward DPS check but requires solid coordination to avoid wipes.
3. Island of Terror
This dungeon is notorious for its confusion and chaotic fights, but with the right approach, it becomes much easier to clear.
· Killing the Mobs: When entering the dungeon, make sure to kill mobs one at a time and avoid pulling too many. If you pull a large group, it’s often better to wipe and restart.
· Geyser and Fog Mechanics: After clearing the mobs, ensure that the fog is properly cleared. The fog can prevent players from seeing which geyser is active, so take the time to clear it properly.
· Rat Mechanic: During the rat mechanic, always be aware of the geyser and meteor drops. Make sure you’re standing close to the geyser so it can clean up the rat mechanic and prevent any issues with fog.
Positioning is crucial in this dungeon. Take it slow, focus on clearing the mobs, and make sure everyone is aware of the geyser mechanic to avoid chaos.
4. Value of Slaughter
This dungeon might feel easy compared to others, but the real challenge comes from organizing crowd control effects, particularly on the three shamans.
· Shaman Control: Make sure the dagger or shadow escape skill with silence is used effectively on the shamans. The hardest part of this dungeon is organizing the CC on these enemies.
· Avoiding Meteors: The most common cause of failure in this dungeon is players failing to dodge meteors or getting caught by them. It’s crucial to stay mobile and avoid the meteors at all costs.
· Tank Coordination: Tanks should never try to clear geysers or move too far from the boss. If the tank is too far away, the boss will start performing fury attacks until the tank gets close again.
This dungeon is more about keeping control of adds and avoiding damage, so make sure your team stays organized and doesn’t get overwhelmed by adds.
5. Torture Chamber of Screams (Upcoming)
The upcoming Torture Chamber of Screams will undoubtedly be a challenge for many players, but understanding the mechanics early on will help you prepare.
· Tank's Role: The tank plays a crucial role in this dungeon, as they’ll need to aggro all the mobs while the rest of the party focuses on the Abominations.
· Axeman Puzzle: During the first mini-boss, you’ll need to pick up the axe and use it to solve a puzzle. Players will need to memorize or write down the red symbols on the walls and input them in the correct order.
· Positioning for Zombies: When the boss uses the zombie mechanic, three players will be chased by zombies. Each player needs to be positioned according to the number of vertical lines above their zombie’s head. Players need to be aware of the specific positioning to avoid wipes.
· Boss Fight Mechanics: The boss fight will include a variety of dangerous attacks, including spinning blades and rain of arrows. Positioning is key to avoid getting hit. The blood vials play a significant role here, so make sure to drain them as needed.
With proper positioning and understanding of the zombie mechanic, this dungeon will be manageable. Make sure everyone is aware of their responsibilities, especially during the intricate puzzles.
General Tips for All Dungeons:
· Communication is Key: Use voice chat or party chat to coordinate mechanics and avoid confusion. Marking targets and using party pens can be invaluable for dungeon puzzles.
· Don’t Panic: Many of these dungeons rely on positioning. If you get caught by a mechanic, don’t panic—just focus on staying calm and executing your role.
· Learn from Mistakes: If your group wipes, take note of what went wrong and adjust accordingly. Sometimes it’s better to wipe and try again than to continue failing.
· Gear and Buffs: Make sure your gear is up to snuff, and always use buffs when necessary. Tanks should use defense buffs to survive boss mechanics, and healers should keep players topped off during the fight.
With these tips and strategies, you’ll be able to handle two-star dungeons in Throne and Liberty more effectively. Remember, each dungeon has its own set of mechanics, and understanding them can make a huge difference.
