Simulating Oklahoma State Football's Remaining Season in CFB 25

Oct-16-2024 PST College Football 25

With Oklahoma State football on a bye week, it's a perfect time to turn to the virtual gridiron. I simulated the Cowboys' remaining schedule 10 times for each game. While real-life results are always unpredictable, these simulations provide an intriguing glimpse into how OSU might finish the season.

Here's how the Cowboys fared in each matchup according to my PlayStation simulations.

Simulating Oklahoma State Football's Remaining Season in CFB 25

OSU @ BYU: Cowboys Go 8-2

The Cowboys dominated the Cougars in Provo, Utah, winning eight out of ten simulations. The average score across these games was 27.4-20.6 in favor of Oklahoma State. If OSU manages to pull off a win by a touchdown in real life, Cowboy fans will surely be thrilled. This result suggests that EA Sports' in-game ratings for OSU might be overly optimistic, but the Cowboys showed dominance over BYU.

Predicted OSU record after this game: 4-3 (1-3 Big 12).

OSU @ Baylor: Cowboys Go 9-1

Next up was Baylor, and once again, the Cowboys outperformed expectations, going 9-1 in the simulations. The average score here was 35.8-20.4, with Oklahoma State clearly outpacing the Bears in nearly every matchup. Though Baylor has struggled in real life, this simulation had OSU continuing a strong run, with another impressive victory in Waco.

Predicted OSU record after this game: 5-3 (2-3 Big 12).

OSU vs. Arizona State: Cowboys Go 10-0

It's no surprise that Oklahoma State swept the simulations against Arizona State. Given that this game is OSU's Homecoming, the Cowboys were undefeated in all ten simulations, winning with an average score of 34.8-15.6. Arizona State, struggling in both real life and in the game, didn't pose much of a challenge to the Cowboys.

Predicted OSU record after this game: 6-3 (3-3 Big 12).

OSU @ TCU: Cowboys Go 8-2

Moving on to Fort Worth, the Cowboys continued their winning ways against the TCU Horned Frogs. OSU came out victorious in eight of the ten simulations, with an average score of 34.8-15.4. Interestingly, this result mirrored the Arizona State score, suggesting Oklahoma State's defensive and offensive strategies were effective in both matchups.

The real-life matchup between these two programs last year was much closer, but in this virtual world, the Cowboys handled business with ease.

Predicted OSU record after this game: 7-3 (4-3 Big 12).

OSU vs. Texas Tech: Cowboys Go 8-2

In the simulated Senior Day game, OSU took on Texas Tech and came away with another 8-2 result. The Cowboys won most of these simulations with an average score of 31.8-23. However, Texas Tech—listed as OSU's rival in College Football 25—managed to steal a couple of wins in the virtual world.

At this point, OSU fans would likely be riding high, seeing their team on an impressive five-game winning streak. But would these victories be enough to make up for the disappointing start to the season?

Predicted OSU record after this game: 8-3 (5-3 Big 12).

OSU @ Colorado: Cowboys Go 9-1

Perhaps the most surprising result came against Colorado, where Oklahoma State won nine out of ten simulations. Although Colorado is considered a solid team in College Football 25, the Cowboys consistently emerged victorious with an average score of 24.4-18.

These wins would position Oklahoma State well for a decent bowl game, though they'd likely still miss out on the Big 12 Championship. Still, ending the season with such a dominant performance against Colorado would give Cowboy fans something to cheer about.

Predicted OSU record after this game: 9-3 (6-3 Big 12).

The Final Outlook

If these simulations are anything to go by, Oklahoma State could very well finish the season with a 9-3 overall record and a 6-3 mark in Big 12 play. This would certainly be an impressive turnaround for a team that started the season with a string of disappointing performances. However, despite the six-game winning streak predicted by College Football 25, many Cowboy fans would likely still feel a sense of frustration. They'd be left wondering what could have been if the team had started the season as strongly as they finished.

In any case, if EA Sports' simulations prove accurate, Cowboy fans can take solace in the fact that their team turned it around and ended the season on a high note. The use of College Football 25 Coins throughout the game simulation added an extra layer of strategy and challenge, as these coins are integral to making upgrades and improving your team's performance in the game.

Overall, while the virtual world of EA Sports College Football 25 is not a perfect predictor of real-life outcomes, it does offer hope for Oklahoma State's season. Fans can only wait and see if the Cowboys can replicate this success on the actual field.
