With the expansion of the Rise of the Angry Earth, you’ll gain access to across faster through the city of Aeternum while riding a customizable mount. The mounts will be of 3 variations: Lions, Dire Wolves, and Horses. Alongside the new area expansion, there’s also a new skill called Riding which players can train for additional mount speed. The cool thing is that you can summon your mount from anywhere unless you’re in combat.
How to get a Mount?
To obtain a mount, you must first own the New Expansion package called the Rise of the Angry Earth. Once you’re in the game with a minimum character level of 25, you can start off with the My Kingdom for a Horse quest. Completing it will unlock the ability to own and summon mounts.
The quickest way to start the quest is by teleporting to the Shadowmine Shrine, and then heading north from there. Upon arrival, you’ll need to speak to JOCHI KHAN to begin the quest. Don’t worry it’s quick and simple to complete.
Once you turn in the quest, you’ll unlock the ability to summon a MOUNT. To do that, you need to open the mount reward interface from the quest rewards, and then double-click the horse icon to obtain it. Next, click the top of your screen to open the inventory interface, and then select the mount icon to equip it. You can also add cosmetics and other accessories to your mounts.
The alternative way to equip your mount is by pressing the ESC key and selecting it from the menu. This menu holds all your owned mounts. From here, you can equip or change your mount per your preference.
Trade Skill: Riding
The new trade skill with the Rise of the Angry Earth expansion is Riding. You can increase your skill level by either feeding your mount or completing various mount quests.
Feeding
To feed your mount, you must first obtain mount food. This can be crafted either at the cooking station or can be purchased from the trading post. The existing food is called Mount Vittles, and they come in 4 different tiers.
Basic Mount Vittles (Tier 1) grants 1,250 XP, Mount Vittles (Tier 2) grants 2,500 XP, Hearty Mount Vittles (Tier 3) grants 8,000 XP, and Luxury Mount Vittles grants 15,000 XP.
Once you have the necessary food items, you can simply add them to your hot bat (same as other consumables) to utilize it. You can always do that in your inventory too by right-clicking and selecting the item.
Quests
There are 2 different types of Mount quests in the game. These can be completed to level up your Riding Trade skill. Both quests are timed events that must be completed within a given timeframe.
The first one is Tours, which require you to travel from one point to the other. You’ll have a lot of time on your hands to race across multiple zones. The other one is Rally, which requires you to cross several spawned checkpoints within a timeframe. Basically, you’ll have a specific timeframe to cross a checkpoint, and once you do, the timer will reset for the next one and so forth.
Rewards
There are many rewards that you can earn while progressing your Riding Trade skill. For instance, increased mount speed for all your mounts, Trinket-like items to improve your mount’s movements, various attachments to customize how your mount looks, high-tier mount food, and a chance to obtain a special mount.
Customization
You can customize your owned mounts by adding dyes, buffs, attachments, and nicknames to them. These items can be equipped onto any mount, and to do that, you need to open your mount collection menu.
Attachments
For visual equipment, there are two attachment slots on every mount. These slots are used to make your mount visually appealing and don’t have any impact on their stats. At level 10, you’ll gain access to the left attachment slot, while the right one gets unlocked at level 250 of your Riding Trade skill.
Buffs
Every existing buff item is a bind-on-pickup and requires a specific riding level to equip. You can also pair buff items with one another. These items can be obtained from quests, skill rewards, open-world drops, or drop loots.
Here are some noteworthy buffs! Cleansing Talisman, Empowered Talisman, Fortified Talisman, Hastey Talisman, Healing Talisman, Mountaineer’s Pendant, Cavalier Crest, and Beast of Burden Bangle
You can also purchase mount attachments, mount dyes, as well as new mounts from the in-game store. The purchase requires an exchange of Marks of Fortune, so make sure to stack them.
PVP
Mounts don’t have much of an impact in PVP because you can’t summon a mount during battle. The summoning has a 2-second delay, and within that timeframe, if any damage is inflicted, the timer will reset. Also, if you’re riding a mount and another player attacks you, you’ll instantly be dismounted.
